Is complex. If systems, experience or leadership are lacking, disruptions occur and these not only cost money, but also trust.  <\/p><p data-start=\"321\" data-end=\"629\"><strong data-start=\"321\" data-end=\"348\">A recent example:<\/strong> Monzo was fined \u00a321m by the FCA for failing governance and compliance controls<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/sifted.eu\/articles\/monzo-fine\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"459\" data-end=\"506\">(Sifted<\/a>). The risk of such breaches increases significantly, particularly in the buy &amp; build sector, if integration and management are neglected.  <\/p><p data-start=\"631\" data-end=\"1001\">The increased personnel costs at neobanks such as Monzo, Starling and Revolut also show<a class=\"cursor-pointer\" href=\"https:\/\/sifted.eu\/articles\/neobanks-spending\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"782\">(Sifted)<\/a> that professionalization follows the growth phase. Buy &amp; build amplifies this effect &#8211; new teams, new systems, higher regulatory requirements. Without experienced leadership, there is a risk of costs and friction.  <\/p><p data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1430\"><strong data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1029\">Another example:<\/strong> the acquisition of Aareal Bank by Helaba<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.handelsblatt.com\/meinung\/kommentare\/kommentar-der-helaba-zukauf-der-aareal-bank-loest-das-problem-nicht\/100141740.html\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1217\">(Handelsblatt<\/a>) secured market share, but did not solve the structural problems.
